Accessibility information

We want to make Mega-Knowledgecamp as accessible as possible. We have therefore listed the information we know about existing barriers here.

The main facilities

  • First aid angels are present at all times and can provide first aid and, if necessary, further medical support. A first aid room is available at the edge of the event for emergencies.
  • If you need medication that needs to be refrigerated, we can store it safely in a fridge.
  • We are trying to organise an awareness team. (Status: May 2025)
  • If you encounter any barriers, there are always angels and organisation people nearby who will be happy to help you.
  • We are trying to make part of the library (access directly at the large lecture room) accessible around the clock as a quiet room. (Status: May 2025)

Contacts

Quiet room

We want people with autism and all participants with similar needs to feel at home at Mega-Knowledgecamp. Appropriate measures are being planned. (Status: May 2025)

  • Quiet room: We are trying to make part of the library (access directly at the large lecture room) accessible around the clock as a quiet room. (Status: May 2025)
  • Retreat room: There are rooms available away from the event area that can be used as a meltdown room, among other things. These will not be signposted, but the organisers and angels will know the way there. This is to ensure that nobody accidentally enters these rooms.

Please note that music will be played in many areas of the event and that it can also get loud due to the large number of visitors. Flashing lights cannot be ruled out, especially in the hack centre and at the bar. To prevent sensory overload, please bring noise-cancelling headphones, hearing protection or sunglasses. If you have any concerns or questions about this, please contact the organisers in advance.

Accompanying persons and assistance animals

Of course you may bring an accompanying person or an assistance animal.

Please bring your disabled pass so that we can grant admission to an accompanying person without a ticket. If you let us know before the event, we can also issue your companion with a free ticket. Please also let us know if you are bringing several or alternating accompanying persons.

If you have any questions about bringing assistance animals, please contact us at any time.

Wheelchairs

Building 10 is generally accessible for wheelchairs.

The entrance area, the Mensa (canteen) (assemblies, hack centre, bar and food) and the Aquarium (workshop room) are located on the ground floor. This area has no steps. There are two wheelchair-accessible toilets directly at the entrance area. The outside doors open automatically, but the door to the workshop room does not. However, there are angels nearby at all times who can provide assistance. The floor is covered with stone slabs throughout.

The large lecture room, the library, the first-aid room and the organisation office are located on the upper floor, which is accessible via a lift. The lift only has one door. The corridors and the large lecture room are laid with stone slabs, the library has a carpeted floor. The wheelchair-accessible toilet on this floor is only accessible through the first-aid room; if you need access, please speak to an Angel.

We keep seats in the large lecture room available for people with disabilities and special needs. These will be marked and signposted. The angels on site will be happy to help.

The large lecture hall has two dedicated wheelchair spaces. However, both of these are located in the front row at the outer edges. If you have difficulty seeing, please contact the angels on site.

Hearing aids

We are currently (as of May 2025) still working on ways to better adapt the large lecture room for people with reduced hearing. Details will follow.

Support for the blind and visually impaired

Although Building 10 (where the mega knowledge camp will take place) is very modern, it does not have a guidance system for the blind. (Status: May 2025)

We are trying to provide a temporary guidance system and a tactile building plan. Details will follow.

Strobe light

We do not plan to use strobe lighting.

DGS (German Sign Language) und Leichte Sprache (Easy Language)

We currently have no capacity to provide information and the programme in German Sign Language (DGS) and in Easy Language (Leichte Sprache). If you would like to support us, please contact the organisers.
